It is almost February 2018.  Where does the time go?

Anyways, I've been busy with a lot of things but thought it would be good to post information about an upcoming training at hot yoga and pilates in Mississauga.

I will be leading a 4 day training over four Sundays in February continuing on in the first week of March starting Sunday Feb. 11, 2018.

Here's a breakdown of what we will be doing over those 4 Sundays:

Feb 11 - This will be an intro to the series which comprises of 84 poses.  We'll go through the sun salutations, and primary series that will set the tone for the next 3 classes.

Feb 18 - Here we will learn to deepen our backbends, and start doing some arm balances like crow and peacock and learning to do the splits.

Feb 25 - Winding down towards the end of the series, we'll focus more on inversions and even deeper back bending

Mar 4 - Here is the day we put it all together.  We'll complete the entire class in the 90 minute time frame moving from pose to pose to complete the Bikram advanced series consisting of 84 poses.

Anyone wanting to deepen their practice is encouraged to join us as I'll be giving you techniques for breathing and going deeper into your poses as well as...wait for it...yoga homework.

You can come to any classes on their own or buy it as a package and come for all 4.  The cost per class is $35 or a discounted rate at $120 for all 4 classes.

Our homework will not only help you with your advanced practice but also with the Bikram classic series of 26 poses with 2 breathing exercises.

I look forward to seeing you and having a lot of fun learning the series.  It would be recommended to have a strong practice of at least a year.  We all have injuries so we will really emphasize being mindful through the movements.

Please sign up or let me know if you are interested by leaving a comment or come to practice this intense but amazing series in Mississauga with me.

Thanks, Alex

hot Yoga & Boot Camps love child : Inferno hot pilates

Hi everyone!  It's been a while since I've posted but I promise I haven't disappeared.  I have been training and learning a whole lot and I want to share with you an amazing practice called Inferno Hot Pilates.

A small group of us went to Vermont in January for a 3 day intensive to be trained by the creator of the series herself Gabriella Walters.

Inferno Hot Pilates is all about moving mindfully and with controlled movements all while doing low impact high intensity interval training.  The interval training aspect of the class is amazing because it causes an oxygen deficit in the body.  What that means is that the body for anywhere up to three days will be working hard to replenish that oxygen which requires it to work long after your workout and improve overall health and metabolism.

The class begins with grounding, warming up the spine, core and glutes and then getting down to the nitty gritty fun, energy abundant and action packed class that will get your heart rate up and smiles going!

This class is full of energy, music, motivation and feeling absolutely amazing all within one hour.  It works the entire body and you definitely feel stronger with every single class.

You will build long lean muscles, creating a very strong core and overall get your cardiovascular system stronger and a whole lot stronger in your back.

As this class will up your heart rate it is always advised to get a doctors approval.  There are always modifications for all the poses so there is always something for everyone.  Every class you will see yourself getting stronger and stronger so that there is always some kind of movement from you.  We want to continue moving as much as possible during the intervals ;).

I have a some classes in my working schedule in Mississauga (you can check them out here on my schedule page) and a special first time introduction class on Feb 20, 2017  at Be Hot Yoga.

If you have any questions about this practice please write it the comments or my contact page!  Look forward to seeing you for Inferno Hot Pilates!

By the way, I forgot the mention....  It's HOT!  About 35 degrees celcius.  :)

It's been a long time since I last posted, but there is very good reason for that.

I got married!!! :)

I married my best friend on April 11 2015 and it was an amazing day.  We had a lot of fun that day but are glad to have it finished.

It was exciting, exhausting, fun, emotional, overwhelming and awesome in the best way possible.

There was so much amazing support from our families and friends that I can't even begin to express my thanks.

Don't worry, I've still been keeping up with my partner yoga and practice but the last 4 months or so were definitely a whirlwind adventure.

I'm so thankful to continue teaching partner yoga with my yoga partner Natalie.  We have one more left at the end of this month on May 31 2015 so we hope you can come to our partners at play where we'll be learning to properly fly!

Also be sure to check out and like my facebook page at alexpyoga for more pictures from our last workshops!

Please contact me for details about anything coming up including private consultations.  I'll be telling you more about massage very very soon!

awesome SEptember

The month of September was awesome.  So many things happened. First lets start with it being the beginning of fall.  Fall is a great time for everything to start preparing for the winter ahead.  It means a turnover of season and preparation for nature to start the cycle yet again.

I also just had a birthday and as much as I'm getting older, I definitely have never felt better!  I went to a seminar with a former world yoga champion named Joseph Encinia and I learned so much.  I also regularly went to my acro sessions in the studio nearby to improve my acro skills.  I love it so much.

I am starting to understand more and more about how to use my core strength.  It's improving slowly but then again what doesn't if you want it to last.  I think a slow progression of strength and stabilization in using my core and applying it to all of my different workouts have made such a huge difference on my breathing, balance and concentration.

I'm working on a new technique which involves my diet to change and for more muscle replenishment.  I have been a very cardio driven exerciser my whole life and with what i'm reading currently makes me realize that I'm a sugar burner which makes me "skinny fat" and I have to change my metabolism to being more of a fat burner so I can start keeping those muscles I'm working so hard to build strong.

Keep in touch with me by subscribing to my RSS feed so you can see when I post something new and follow my results.  I will be focusing more on HIIT (high intensity interval training) yoga workouts and explaining why this will be my more focused way of toning up and gaining muscle.  I still continue to use yoga for its balance but I realize I need a balance in all aspects of my life.

Also I have a couple of workshops coming up in October and November and would love for you to come join us.  They will be partner yoga workshops.  You can see my partner yoga video here to check out what it is we'll be doing. Oh, and don't worry if you don't have a partner.  It's no problem at all.

Thats it for now, I'll leave you with some pictures from my trip to Barrie with my new yoga friends.
